Relic was built to empower developers and users with trustless access to all of Ethereum’s current and historical data. This rich set of data enables entirely new capabilities including fully on-chain identity and reputation, on-chain snapshot voting, trustless price + volatility oracles, and more. We’re happy to announce that these superpowers are now achievable with higher speeds and lower fees on zkSync Era.

Activity on L2s has skyrocketed in recent months, as both users and developers are seeking fast transactions and low fees. The zkSync Era mainnet launched in March 2023, and currently supports the most user activity among the Ethereum L2s. Relic trustlessly bridges all of Ethereum’s data to zkSync Era, supporting all of Relic’s L1 features with dramatically lower fees.

The combination of trustless historical data access and negligible transaction fees creates completely new possibilities, even for applications on the Ethereum L1. For example, it is now practical to implement fully on-chain snapshot voting, where voting takes place on zkSync Era based on a snapshot of Ethereum data from Relic, and the results are bridged back to Ethereum to execute the governance decision. Similarly, any other Ethereum state proofs which are too expensive to perform on L1 can now be done cheaply on zkSync Era before trustlessly bridging the results back for use on Ethereum.

We are excited to partner with the developer community and explore the many novel uses for Ethereum data on zkSync Era.
